It's been a long time coming, but Coronation Street is to feature its first ever lesbian storyline when schoolgirl Sophie Webster falls in love with her best friend.The Christian teenager, played by Brooke Vincent succumbs to her feelings for Sian Powers (Sacha Parkinson) after a row.The plot comes 16 years after Brookside screened the first pre-watershed lesbian kiss in January 1994 a scene featuring Anna Friel which drew in six million viewers. The Weatherfield teenagers end up sharing a kiss, after spending a week arguing over Sian's boyfriend Ryan Connor (Ben Thompson).The build up to the kiss comes after Sian splits from Ryan following an argument between the couple.Glamorous: An off-duty Brooke Vincent out in Manchester this week. Sophie tries to get the pair to make up and is horrified when Ryan tries to kiss her instead.When she confesses to Sian that Ryan tried to make a move on her, the schoolboy then accuses her of lying and Sian ends up believing him. Sophie is devastated when Sian believes Ryan over her and after some reflection, suddenly realises her true feelings for the blonde are more than just friendship.
